As far as I can see, the only difference between a cheap keyboard and an expensive one is the number of extra buttons available. Is there any actual tangeble benefit to a good expensive keyboard?

Its like the difference between nice cars....

Some are nice colours, some look nicer. But generally, the more expensive, the greater the quality.

For example, a $10 keyboard will be generic, big keys, standard layout and probably cheap stiff springs on the keys. A $50 keyboard might have slight curves to fits the hands better, or have lighter keys. Yes you can get wireless keyboards for $20, but you might only be able to press 5 or 6 keys at a time. A $70 have longer battery life and better response rates - needed for playing games etc.
