Media Center in Vista Slow

Hi,

When using Windows Media Centre in Vista Home Premium, it sometimes 'goes slow'. The playback can become choppy and if I'm recording whilst trying to watch at the same time then the recording goes very jerky. What can I do?

Is this in a laptop or desktop?

It will probably be that the graphics card that you use will be too slow for purpose.

Then that will be the problem. Something else that might help: after doing a google search I came across something that should increase performance.

If you right-click on 'Computer' and select 'Manage'. Select 'Services and Applications' then 'Services'. Find 'Windows Media Center Service Launcher' and change the startup from 'Automatic with Delay' to 'Automatic'.

That seems to have sped it up slightly. Though it still hangs for double recording, or recording and watching etc.

I guess I'll have to deal with it until I get a new computer. Will increasing RAM help?
