External DVD drive

Hello. I bought a DVD drive and placed it in a USB caddy. During watching DVDs, the drive will slow and then sound like its having trouble reading the disk. The playback will stop. It does this with every disk I put in. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi CMaster,

Is the DVD drive connected through a hub, or is it a direct connection to the computer? I take it that its USB2 and plugged into a USB2 port?
