I have recently re-installed XP after deciding to change the RAID array on my PC. Since doing so, on pretty much any software that has an 'auto-updater' function, I get a message along the lines of 'There is no network connection' or similar. Can't seem to figure it out. Also having some issues with 'Steam' and trying to validate installations. I have a working broadband connection.
I'm new to this forum. Have a fair bit of PC experience, but hate networking issues!

When you say the broadband is working, can you browse websites on that computer?
Can you dump the output of start > run > cmd ipconfig /all
and lets have a look :)

For further information, I have tried disabling internet security and firewalls, all makes no difference:(.
It is very odd that you have some connectivity but not with all programs. Especially if you've disabled all firewalls and internet security packages on your computer.
Is this a home or business broadband connection?

It was a home connection. Appear to have cured it now. Re-installed all networkdrivers one by one. Seemed to fix after installing Nvidia enumerator bus driver (whatever that is!).
