I have Windows XP Professional and my hard drive is NTFS. When I defragment the drive, I get a message that some files could not be defragmented. This is a pretty recent problem. I turned off system restore so that the restore points could not cause a problem and I also set no paging file. I also ran checkdisk.
There are 2 strips of red blocks that never get defragmented. Is it a serious problem or should I ignore it?

How much space is your hard drive have spare / used and how fragmented is your hard drive. In general, undefragmentable items are system files that are in current use. If you're that concerned about it then you should run a defrag utility from a boot up CD or the like. To be honest though, if its only a small amount and you have plenty of space then it wont make the slightest difference!
