I'm using a live version of Slax Linux which boots from a usb memory stick. When I plug my portable HDD in, (it uses 2 USB ports for power), the system will only recognise either the usb stick OR the hdd!:question: I have dismount and remount the other when I want to work on a particular drive. Any ideas how I can fix this?

It could be either a hardware or software fault. Can you boot up into another OS - ie Windows? If so, do both drives work together?

They both work fine under Windows

Which version of Slax are you using, and is it USB 1 or 2?

BT2 being a bootdisk version means that it may not have the neccessary drivers. Try downloading and installing them.

I agree - bt2 is not well equipped when it comes to dealing with devices. Best bet is to just use a proper version of *nix

You were right - it was BT2. I managed to find drivers. That was until I downloaded BT3!

BT seems to get around a lot!
