win98 issue

I've brought an old pc from the attic and set it up - its running windows 98. When i close a program, the taskbar tab (for lack of a better word) doesn't close. The icon and title disappear, but the tab remains. I have to click on it to get rid of it. Any ideas why it should do this?

What version of 98 are you running?

I believe that there were quite a few bugs in the earlier versions. Have you tried upgrading?

SP1 I believe - i'll look into upgrading to SE
