What is the difference between DDR2 and DDR3?

Essentially, DDR3 uses a slightly different way of accessing memory to reduce latency and increase speed and reliability. The 2 technologies are not compatible, hence you need to use the right sort of RAM depending on what motherboard you have. DDR3 is not at the moment worth the expense compared to the performance that you get from ddr2.
