Firewire or USB?

For a new external hard drive, which is better? USB or Firewire?

USB is my personal preference as I have never used firewire. I believe USB2 is slightly faster, provided its not heavily burdened with many other devices on a bad hub.

USB is also cheaper and the more likely technology to evolve.
