Default Acer Restore

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help me with my Acer Aspire 7110 Laptop. Basically, I've picked up a virus and now I really want to do a factory restore. I know I dont need discs because I have done the restore once before. However, this time, it is not letting me do the restore (f12 on boot up screen).

If anyone could help me by explaining what to do, that would be brilliant. Or, if anyone could recommend anywhere in Sheffield that would do it, that would also be brilliant. All my files are backed up, so I literally need to clear everything and "start again"! I've already been quoted £70 - and definately need something a bit cheaper!!

Please please help!!

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

A factory restore is very different to a system restore. A system restore is using Window's built in program to return the computer to a previously saved state - say before a file installation etc.

A factory restore is using the discs that came with the computer to return it to an as new condition (software wise).

If you can boot into Windows, then you can run a system restore from Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore

However, if the virus has done a lot of damage then you may have no alternative (ie it will be quicker and easier) to simply pop in the factory restore CD and start again.

Hope that helps!
