Default Hello folks

Hello, I'm Catweasel.I have a few computers under my belt, and,so far,no major problems. I've just dived into the world of laptops, and here I am struggling a bit so I'll no doubt have a few questions to ask. Upgrading memory and hard drive easy enough, but any thing else I don't know. It's a Dell Inspiron 6000 I've aquired.

Welcome to the forum Catweasel! Indeed laptops are trickier than their desktop counterparts - any questions just post!

Default Hello Folks

Thanks Chris. The Dell cost me peanuts but I intend to up the RAM to 2GB,the 'drive to 200GB if I can get a good price.I may even upgrade the processor! 6000 Turbo? One problem I've found is a dodgy head phone jack, but as that involves a mobo change I think I'll ignore it.

Ram and hard drive are always good upgrades - I recently got a 2.5" 250gb ATA hard drive from ebay for only £40 ($75ish). I'm not too sure about processor upgrades though. I can't speak for dells, but my last laptops (HP & Toshiba) all had processors that were glued into place. Probably to aid cooling. Processors, mobos and graphics cards are all non upgradable on most notebooks in my experience.
