Default Replacing Hard Drive (please read if you can help)

I have an Advent 7000 and 2 years ago i replaced the hard drive with a 160gb Toshiba hard drive. Recently the laptop has become useless and i have been offered an Acer aspire 3680. i been researching and i have found out that it is possible to take the hard drive out of my old laptop and place it in the new one but what ive been told is that i would need to format the hard drive and reload it. Would i have to do this before i take it out of the Advent or after i place it in the Acer? and if so can anyone please tell me the steps which i need to take to get the hard drive into the Acer and to get it working?Any help would very much appreciate and in return im willin to help you on anything that i knoa lot about which is basically Football (soccer) and videogames lol

Hi McNavdo,

You can swap the hard drives straight away. When you start up the Acer, just make sure you have the Acer's restore CD in the drive so that you can do the format.
