Default Max amount of memory

I have a Sony Vaio that is a few years old now with 1.5gb of ram. The box says that it has a maximum of 2gb, is there anyway I can increase this to say 4gb or even higher?

If it says that 2gb is the maximum, then i'd have a sneaky suspicion that 2gb is the maximum!!

Although 4GB is the theoretical limit for a 32-bit computer, most manufacturers limit their motherboards to a much lower limit.
