WiFi Range Extender

My Wi-Fi doesn't have a strong enough signal to reach my living room from my study where the router is. I have a LINKSYS WRT54G IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless-G Broadband Router. I was thinking of getting the LINKSYS WRE54G Wireless-G Range Extender. Is this a good idea, or do you guys have a better idea?
