What spreadsheet software?

I'd like to learn how to use spreadsheets but don't know which software to use. I see that I can download Open Office for free or would it be best to purchase a copy of Excel?

Love the name!

Excel is a very useful piece of software. But unless you are going to be doing anything more than basic calculations, manipulation, charting etc. then it is much better to go for open office - which should be more than adequate for anything other than the most intensive tasks.

What would you be using it for?

Choose Open Office.org

- it will provide you with the complete suite of programmes whereas Excel is just one aspect.
- it will be less intensive on your computer resources
- and its free!
