Default external dvd rw in caddy playing up

i have a dvdrw in a usb caddy

it works ok when watching a movie for about 15 minutes and then it stops playing and then sounds like it is having trouble seeking.

it does this with every movie since it was new - they play in my internal drive.

    any ideas?

    Hi Federalli,

Do you have any other way of testing the drive or the caddy - ie using it to power another device?

Not really - but come to think of it, my external HDD does it as well.

Ahh - are you using a USB hub?

I wouldn't say usually, but maybe the hub isn't capable of supporting the large volume of data that is being used. Try it without the hub, and see if that makes things better.
