Hi there, recently got myself a new laptop, Acer Aspire 5535 (Vista premium) but having a problem with it crashing.
Basically it'll work as normal but then briefly freeze (ie. mouse non-responsive etc.) for a couple of seconds before the screen goes blank (backlight still on though) and the system is completely non-responsive although lights are still on (power, wireless connection etc.).
Any ideas what may be causing this? I've phoned up the pcworld helpline and they just said to do a restore to factory settings but funnily enough that didn't work. Could it be something like the RAM not being seated correctly? I'm wary of opening it up incase I invalidate the warranty but phoning the national rate helpline again isn't ideal!
That definately sounds like a software problem to me. Did you completely wipe the hard drive before reinstalling windows?

Hi Dave,
This is a major problem with Acer Aspire 5535 Laptops which Acer, PC World, Comet, Currys and Dixons are all ignoring. It's amazing that so many of these have been sold with this fault.
There is only one real solution, get XP on there ASAP - this solves the problem (you can keep vista on there too) and the laptop runs smoothly and VERY fast with XP too.

I done this and the 5535 is now (at last) working perfectly.
Hope that helps.
