    Unhappy home page

    hi, when i turn my comp. it starts up quite quick, until i click on for internet when it takes sometimes 3-4 mins to get on the home page (bbc . com). Any advice please. This seems to have happened since i down loaded outlook express 8. Thanks, regards David

    When you say it takes a few mins to load a webpage, do you mean that it takes a few mins to load the browser, or for the page itself to load?

    From the brief description given it could be a link scanner/filter software or maybe a virus affecting it.

    Anti-virus such as AVG include link scanners - I turn linkscanners off because they do slow down internet traffic as they are scanning for threats.

    Failing the above it could be the internet connection itself. Are you connecting Wirelessly or through ethernet? If it is wireless the signal strength maybe low. Do you get any alert boxes or bubbles when connecting to the internet?

    it could be that outlook is using up the bandwidth that you have, try turning it off when it is not in use
