laptop crashed

Hi, my advent laptop is just over a year old windows vista 2g ram 120gb hd. When I switch it on just asfter bios the screen goes black and in the top left hand corner of the screen it say enter password nothing happens if you hit any key but the enter then it says no os. Any suggestions welcome.

It sounds like you have an enabled bios password - without the password, the OS won't boot.
