computer won\'t boot up!!
Hi there
A couple of days ago my computer just conked out on me! It just turned itself off and on over and over until i turned it off at the wall. Now it won't turn on at all. I tried several times, but each time, windows starts loading, then, a screen comes up with four options for me to start, such as 'start in safe mode' etc. I have tried starting up with these four options, and none of them worked. Each time the blue screen flashed up for about half a second before the computer went off again.
Any ideas what could be causing this problem? Any ideas if it could be fixed? and if so how?
I was wondering if it is a hard drive problem. Does it sound like this? i suspect there is a problem with the hard drive, as the light does not come on and it makes no noise on start up. I have a slave hard drive, so how do i swap the jumpers over so that the slave is now the main hard drive, and run the main hard drive as the slave hard drive?
Any suggestions welcome

Wow! Thats quite a problem!!
So it wont even boot up into safe mode? Is there an error code that flashes on teh screen before it reboots?
Its sounds that is most likely a HDD failure - since safe mode is stored as a secured section in the OS. If you're sure of what you're doing, then the jumper position should be on the far left of the 4 jumper positions.

Hi will thanks for the reply. Not sure about error code as the blue screen flashes up for such a short time, literally half a second, before the computer goes off again, so if ther is i can't see it or write it down.
I've never done anything like this before. So cld u pls give me a quick run through of what i have to do to swap over my slave and main HDD's so my slave will run as main?
Thanks again

What type of harddrives are you using? Are they IDE, ATA, SATA etc.?
Are you using identical drives? What make/model are they?
For IDE, assuming that they are identical drives, it should simply be a case of swapping the jumper positions. Your current master jumper position should be moved to the current slave drive and vice versa. You don't need to change the plug on the IDE cable.
