Why is it that everytime i shut down my son's computer, does it have to reinstall drivers for pci-?bridge{something like that}, sound etc, also the mouse becomes un responsive at times and you ca't close windows or shut down? i think it might be the mouse? dunno, thanks
Hello Vendetta, welcome to the forum!
Do the drivers reinstall every time you start up? Is it always the same driver? What OS are you running?
Yeh every time, sound, pci things?, always the same ones, it's Vista Home Premium![]()
Is it sound, pci, both? Its important to know which ones.Yeh every time, sound, pci things?,
How long ago did this start? Have you tried doing a System Restore?
Obviously, that isn't something that Vista should be doing! I would agree with Chris that the best course of action is to restore the computer to a point before this started happening.
You can do this by going to Start --> All Programmes --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore

sorry for being so vague & not quick to respond, i'll start at the begining i think:crazy:
I just built a computer for my 5 yr old son, summit cheapish, and as a project for myself, the computer comprises of the following - Black ICute ATX PC Case, MSI PT890 Neo mainboard, INTELŪ PentiumŪ 4 E2160 Dual Core CPU, PNY Geforce 7200GS 128MB PCI-E Graphics Card, 2 x 512mb pc-4200 533mhz modules, 400W iCute ATX Power Supply, Samsung DVD Drive Writer LIGHTSCRIBE NERO 20x internal, some other dvd drive, 3.5" Internal Multi Multiple Card Reader/W, And it's running Vista Home Premium.
So problem is at the begining i installed Vista, when first started, it came up with the pop up in the task bar for windows installing drivers, at first it was quite alot, now just - 1. PCI STANDARD PCI TO PCI BRIDGE, 2. HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO CONTROLLER, 3. REALTEK HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO. it only does it after a shutdown, if restarted it's fine, only after shutdown and then powered up does it install these drivers again, and again. I've re-installed vista twice and it still does it. I've a Packard Bell Imedia with Vista, A PC Specialist PC with Vista, And a Toshiba A-200 19k with Vista, and no problems, and if i plug in my external hard drive into one of these etc and keep it plugged in a after shut down, then later power up, they don't try to reinstal that same driver, so why does my sons computer keep re-installing these drivers when they are integral to that PC??? Have i done something wrong or is something faulty???
thanks![]()
2 & 3 are audio drivers and the 1st would seem to be related. So I think we need to rule out the sound card being a problem.
Do you have a seperate sound card, or is it integrated into the motherboard?
If it is seperate, can you plug it into a different PCI slot?
Either way, download the latest drivers from the relevant manufacturer. Ie from the the maker of the soundcard (if seperate) or from mobo (if not seperate).
