No more floppy connections???
One of my latest projects is by accident. A friend of mine visited me and when he saw this old computer I had, he offered me some new stuff. He is well off and it was no cost to him so I accepted. He gave me a Gigabyte board with 1gig DDRII and a dual core Intel processor.
My issue here is... where or what has become of floppy drive slots? I know its old technology but why is it now off the market? I have other computers which don't even have optical drives... how am I supposed to move data? What do I do?

Ahh the floppy disk bane! The best way I found to solve this problem was to get a USB floppy drive for my computer without one. Apart from pre Win 98, then most computers should be able to read a USB memory stick instead. How old is the computer that you're trying to copy data from?

Its just if I need to make a boot disk or move an old game to an old machine... and old 386 would be lost if I showed it a flash drive... even a cd!
I wasn't aware that you could get a floppy USB device... thanks!

I just ordered a new pc from Dell & I specified a floppy drive, no problem. They are still available.:starhit:
that's funny cause my gigabyte board (which is new) has a FDD connector (next to the PCI slots).
