Hi All, I have a lot of VHS tapes which I recorded from my camcorder. But I now want to convert them either to my hard drive or to DVD.
I have a Pinnacle TV stick which will play Digital TV stations but does not recognise a VCR machine. I also have Ulead Movie Maker 5 which will also not recognise the VCR signal. Can anybody help ?
I am using Windows Vista Ultimate on a Dell inspiron 530 Desktop

Hi Patchrunner -
Unfortunately, VCRs only output an analogue signal and hence require either a video-in connection (ie SCART or RGB) or an analogue tuner.
If your TV stick is a digital tuner only then it wont be able to handle this. If it has a video-in connection then you should be able to. Which Pinnacle stick do you use?

Thanks for your reply Gatto,
I am using a Dazzle DVB-T stick is that any help ?
It seems Dazzle make a couple of DVB-T sticks - is there a number associated with it? Or does it say that its a 'hybrid'?
Sorry Gatto,
there is no other info on the box, on the stick there is the number 71e 1039.

I've just double checked, and the 71e is purely a digital tuner - no analog option even with a software change.
So the only way to do this would be with an analog tv tuner card - the Hauppage WinTV USB springs to mind, or the Hauppage USB Live Capture card.
Another alternative would be to get a cheap DVD recorder and plug your VCR into that.
Sorry I couldn't help more!
