Default BT Business - Assign Multiple IP Addresses

    Hi,

I'm using BT Business Broadband which only allows you to set 1 ip address to a computer/server. Does anyone know how to set multiple addresses?

    Thanks,

    W

BT hubs use the MAC addresses of the ethernet card to assign ip addresses. As such, there is only 1 easy way to get multiple addresses and that is to have multiple cards within one computer.

What OS are you using? It could be possible to get the TCP/IP to request more than 1 IP address and fool the router.

I'm using Debian. I went and bought another ethernet card and you're right - it works fine now. If I were to just use the 1 card, how would I go about it?

Ok, as far as I know and from reviewing 2wire routers (what the bt router is) on their site, I would say not.

Use ifconfig to get 2 ip addresses is fine, you can use the 2nd ip address from within the network, but it wont allow it through the firewall.
